An experimental solarpowered plane landed safely Thursday after completing its first 24hour test flight, proving that the aircraft can collect enough energy from the sun during the day to stay aloft(在空中) all night.

Pilot Andre Borschberg eased the Solar Impulse onto the runway at Payerne airfield about 30 miles southwest of the Swiss capital Bern at exactly 9 a.m. (3 a.m. EDT) Thursday. Helpers rushed to stabilize the pioneering plane as it touched down, ensuring that its massive 207foot wingspan didn’t scrape the ground and topple(倾倒) the craft.

The record feat(壮举) completes seven years of planning and brings the Swissled project one step closer to its goal of circling the globe using only energy from the sun. “We achieved more than we wanted. Everybody is extremely happy,”Borschberg told reporters after landing.

Previous flights included a brief “flea hop” and a longer airborne test earlier this year, but this week’s attempt was described as a “milestone” by the team. The team said it had now demonstrated that the singleseat plane can theoretically stay in the air indefinitely, recharging its depleted batteries using 12,000 solar cells and nothing but the rays of the sun during the day. But while the team said this proved that emissionsfree air travel was possible, it didn’t see solar technology replacing conventional jet propulsion(喷气推进) any time soon. Instead, the project’s overarching purpose was to test and promote new energyefficient technologies.

Project cofounder Bertrand Piccard, himself a recordbreaking balloonist, said many people had been skeptical that renewable energy could ever be used to take a man into the air and keep him there. “It’s a matter of time that people come to believe and understand about renewable energies,”Piccard said, adding that the flight was proof that new technologies can help break society’s dependence on fossil fuels.

The team will now set its sights on an Atlantic crossing, before attempting a roundtheworld flight in 2017, making only five stops along the way. “It’s absolutely not time to relax,” said Piccard.

Many students eat their breakfast on the way to school or in the diningroom. But some of them don’t really know how to eat well when eating out.

Here is some important advice. The first is to eat less fast food. The most obvious harm of eating fast food is weight gaining because of too much fat. Young people and adults are at risk of diseases related to weight.

Too much fast food can drag you down. French fries, for example, were recently found to contain much more acryl amide (丙烯酰胺) than other food. This may cause cancer. Actually, deep fried food all contains acryl amide. So don’t eat it too often.

Soda is another thing you should watch out for. Cokes and other sodas contain a lot of sugar and can slow down a person’s calcium absorption (钙吸收), so it’s best to drink as little soda as possible.

Food in the diningroom may not be as tasty as fast food, but it’s actually easier to make healthy choices. Human bodies need variety. You can have a meal that balances lean proteins, vitamins and complex carbohydrates (碳水化合物). In other words, a meal with fish or meat, vegetables and some bread or rice will provide you with most nutrients that the body needs.

Some snacks, on the other hand, will help keep you going until the next big meal. It is natural for teenagers, especially boys, to feel hungry during school time. Don’t forget to take some food, like wholegrain biscuits or lowfat milk in your school bag.

A migraine headache(偏头疼) can cause disabling pain. People may not feel back to normal for hours or even for days.

Migraine headaches are most common among young adults and middleaged people. In the United States, about eighteen percent of women and six percent of men report having migraines.

People who suffer from migraines can find that different “triggers” in different people may get a headache started. Stress can act as a trigger.

Many migraine sufferers say hot weather and low barometric pressure(气压) can act as triggers, but researchers say they did not have much scientific evidence of that—until now.

In a new study, a team examined the medical records of seven thousand hospital patients. The patients had visited the emergency room at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts, because of a headache. More than two thousand of them had been found to have a migraine.

The team then compared those records to weather conditions in the twentyfour hours before the hospital visits. For every increase of five degrees Celsius in air temperature, the patients had a seven and onehalf percent higher risk of migraine. Decreases in barometric pressure two to three days before the visit also appeared to cause headaches.

A separate study has found that age, gender and where a person has extra body fat may affect the risk of migraine. It found that overweight people between the ages of twenty and fiftyfive may have a higher risk. On average, those who were larger around the middle were more likely to have migraines than those of the same age with smaller waistlines(腰围).

Experts suggest that losing weight in the stomach area may help younger people who experience migraines, especially women. Doing exercises regularly is also helpful to reducing migraine headaches.
