  Ⅲ.阅读理解

(2017·师大附中高三月考六)While you may be doing everything right, ignoring just one or two steps in the process may keep you from getting a job, especially in this fierce market. Here is a checklist that covers some of the major links in the jobsearch chain.

THE RESUME — Make sure it is uptodate and tailored to the types of jobs you are seeking for. Have someone else look at your resume. If you cannot afford a career coach, give your resume to friends or family members to scrutinize. Have copies of your resume printed so that you are ready to hand them out at interviews.

COVERING LETTERS — Maybe you've set up a few basic styles in advance, but that's not enough. Each covering letter should be designed to suit the job for which you are applying.

THE WARDROBE(衣橱) — Check your wardrobe to ensure that you have the appropriate professional dress, including shoes, ready for interview.

NETWORKING — Don't isolate yourself from others for days. Network through email messages, phone calls, appointments and meetings keep you in touch with the outside world and prevent you from becoming depressed.

APPLICATION — A glance at huge online job sites isn't usually the best way to find a job. You are more likely to succeed through the people you know via networking.

THE FOLLOWUP — It is quite common to apply for job and never hear back from the company. Take measures, such as following up with a phone call a week or so after you apply. If you know someone at the company, check whether that person will put in a good word for you.

INTERVIEWS — If you've got plenty of interviews but no return calls or job offers, take a look at your interviewing skills. This is one area where investing in a career coach may pay off. But if you can't afford one, try to find a job group or service that conducts free mock(模拟) interviews.

SUPPORT SYSTEMS — Finally, recognize that looking for job is rather difficult. Even at the best of times, a job hunt is often about rejection, and that can be hard to endure. Staying in touch with family, friends, professional networks and fellow job seekers can help you to maintain a positive attitude and a sense of perspective.

Burns can happen when people get too careless or when they are involved in accidents. A person may get their skin damaged by being exposed to strong sunlight, open fires, too much heat, acids and even electricity. Each of these major causes of burns can lead to various degrees of skin damage, some of which can lead to permanent scars(伤痕) and even death. The pain that comes with burns is also no laughing matter since they are one of the most painful injuries one can have. Even a slight pressure on the affected skin can cause it to give out pain.

Fortunately, burns can be easily treated at home as long as they are handled with care. The first thing to do with a fresh burn is to cool it with running water. Let the affected area cool down for at least 15 minutes and then wipe the area with a piece of clean cloth. Never apply(敷) ice directly to the burn for frostbite(冻伤) may occur. After wiping it dry, apply burn cream on the damaged skin. The moment the cream is applied, cover the area with a bandage to protect it from infection(感染).

Remember that these things would only work for minor burns which include the damage to the outermost layers of your skin or even a little further down. Some serious burns can also be treated at home as long as the burn has only affected a small area. When the pain become unbearable, the person affected should contact the doctor at once. The same is true when too much flesh is already exposed or when a large part of the skin got burned. Doctors can give better burn relief treatments for these kinds of serious burns.

  Ⅴ.One possible version:

In recent years, outbound travel has become more and more popular among middle school students and their parents. People have different opinions on this.

Some support the idea, as they believe that outbound travel provides students with a good chance to broaden their horizons and help them better understand different cultures around the world. Others, however, are against traveling abroad. They argue that being quite expensive outbound travel will put parents under great financial pressure as they try hard to pay for the travel.

As far as I am concerned, outbound traveling is really a very valuable experience for us students. But if our parents can hardly afford it, we should try other means to open our minds to other cultures, such as surfing the Internet or reading magazines.
