  1.说明学习习惯与学习效果之间的关系;

  2.介绍一种好的学习习惯并提出养成该习惯的建议;

It's useful and necessary to discuss learning

habits. In reality, different students have different learning habits, which I think influence their learning efficiency greatly. Good habits always lead to high efficiency, ①while bad ones bring the opposite.

Some students are good at concentrating on what the teachers teach in class. They think only in this way can they understand and memorize the teaching materials better. If we find those materials interesting, we'll focus our attention on them for long. However, those dull lessons require our determination, selfcontrolling ability and confidence.

My classmates always call me “Mr. Forgetful”, because I cannot memorize those I have learned. I know that it is because I don't spend some time in memorizing them after class. My teachers advise me to repeat the materials several times and read them aloud, ②which they think will help improve my memory.

Eco City Farms are becoming more popular in cities and towns around the United States.

Eco City Farms in Edmonston, Maryland, is located near shopping centers, car repair shops and homes. The neighborhood is a workingclass community. People do not have very much money, and they have limited access to fresh food in markets.

Over the past two years, the farm has attracted volunteers from the community like Marcy Clark. She schools her four children at home. On a recent day she brought them to Eco City Farms for a lesson. Her son Alston Clark thinks his experience is very valuable. “I like coming out here,” he says, “You know, you connect with the earth, where your food comes from. You appreciate the food a little bit more.”

Margaret Morgan started Eco City Farms. She thinks of it as a place where people can learn to live healthier lives. “Growing food in a community brings people together,” she continues, “Every piece of what we do here is a demonstration to show people everything about how to have an ecofriendly community,” she says. From the Eco City Farms people come to know that they are not only growing food and raising chickens and bees, but improving the soil with compost (肥料) made from food waste.

Eco City Farms is an experimental operation. The farm gets its power not from the local electricity networks, but from the sun with solar panels.

In winter, the green houses use a geothermal (地热) system.

Vegetables can be grown all year. So once a week, all winter long, neighbors like Chris Moss and her three children bike to the farm to pick up a share of the harvest.

“I like eating the vegetables,” says fiveyearold Owen Moss.

My husband Desmond was once a financial planner. Even though he couldn't balance our budge, his clients trusted him completely and he made them feel secure. In exchange they paid

him very well. We had a nice life then. At that time, my yoga studio (瑜伽馆) was just starting to make a profit, and I had recently decorated it. At last, I was in control of my working life and poured my heart and soul into making it succeed.

When we first met, I fell hard for Desmond right away, although I wouldn't call it love I'd never been with a man who was smarter than I was, but after a while I got used to this, and it didn't bother me so much. I was recovering from a broken heart and needed something to help me move on. If it wasn't love, it was good enough, and when he asked me to marry him I jumped at the chance, knowing that it might be my last.

Things started out so well. I was working steadily and Desmond was patiently climbing up the ladder in his department. Then, without any warning, one gray winter afternoon in year five, he just upped and left his desk at the bank, handed in his resignation, and came home and told me he wanted to start an interior design business.

He has always loved mixing and matching, and has a real eye for color, texture, and shape, but the idea of turning a hobby into a business wasn't something we had ever discussed. I thought the stress of his job was becoming too much and perhaps he would take a few months off over the spring and summer to relax and get the idea out of his system. I didn't believe he could be serious. But once he had a few clients, he began to draw up plans, ordering catalogues and turning our empty workshop into a kind of makeshift studio with all of his sketches pinned to the wall. After spending a lot of time and money on all of this preparation, and really doing quite a nice job of it, he called each client in turn and apologized, saying he wouldn't be able to design their living spaces after all.

  5.As a financial planner, Desmond ________.

  A.paid his client very well

  B.was trusted by his clients

C.was making his yoga studio profitable

D.could make his family's budget balanced

根据文章第一段第一、二句“My husband Desmond was once a financial planner ... his clients trusted him completely and he made them feel secure.”

6.The woman in the passage ________.

A.fell in love with Desmond at first sight

B.managed a yoga studio with her husband

C.felt really uncomfortable with a smart man

D.married Desmond because of heart attack

根据文章第二段第一句中的“When we first met, I fell hard for Desmond right away”可知,作者对Desmond一见钟情。 根据第一段第五句“At that time my yoga studio(瑜伽馆) was ...”

7.His wife thought Desmond suddenly quit his job because he ________.

  A.couldn't wait to be promoted

  B.had experience in interior design

C.couldn't bear the pressure from his job

D.wanted to do something he enjoyed

根据文章最后一段第二句中的“I thought the stress of his job was becoming too much”可推知,作者认为丈夫是由于工作压力过大才辞职的。

8.It can be inferred from the last paragraph that Desmond ________.

A.was more likely to change his mind

B.would return to his office in the bank

C.made a big business in interior design

D.was not well prepared for his business

[典例](2017·安徽高考阅读理解A节选)The Healthy Habits Survey (调查) shows that only about one third of American seniors have correct habits. Here are some findings and expert advice.

1.How many times did you brush your teeth yesterday?

·Finding:A full 33% of seniors brush their teeth only once a day.

·Step:Remove the 300 types of bacteria in your mouth each morning with a batteryoperated toothbrush.Brush gently for 2 minutes, at least twice a day.

2.How many times did you wash your hands or bathe yesterday?

·Finding:Seniors, on average, bathe fewer than 3 days a week. And nearly 30% wash their hands only 4 times a day — half of the number doctors recommend.

·Step:We touch our faces around 3,000 times a day — often inviting germs (病菌) to enter our mouth, nose, and eyes.Use toilet paper to avoid touching the door handle. And, most important, wash your hands often with hot running water and soap for 20 seconds.

  …

57.Doctors suggest that people should wash their hands ________.

  A.twice a day B.three times a day

  C.four times a day D.eight times

  a day ,

[典例](2017·湖南高考阅读理解A节选)LOOK AFTER YOURSELF Really central hotels in cities such as London, Edinburgh and Cardiff can cost a fortune, especially at weekends and during big events. As an alternative consider checking into a selfcatering flat with its own kitchen.Often these flats are hidden away on the top floors of city centre buildings.A great example is the historic O'Neill Flat on Edinburgh's Royal Mile, available for £420 for five days in late September, with room for four adults.

58.The passage shows that the O'Neill Flat ________.

  A.lies on the ground floor

  B.is located in central London

  C.provides cooking facilities for tourists

D.costs over £100 on average per day in late September,

文中提到O'Neill Flat是一个很好的例子(A great example);这个例子就是指上文提到的“As an alternative consider checking into a selfcatering flat with its own kitchen.”;根据这句可以推断出O'Neill Flat为旅客提供一些厨房用具,故答案选C。

[典例](2017 ·新课标卷Ⅱ阅读理解B节选)In 1947 a group of famous people from the art world headed by an Austrian conductor decided to hold an international festival of music, dance and theatre in Edinburgh. The idea was to reunite Europe after the Second World War.

It quickly attracted famous names such as Alec Guinness, Richard Burton, Dame Margot Fonteyn and Marlene Dietrich as well as the big symphony orchestras It became a fixed event every August and now attracts 400,000 people yearly.

At the same time, the “Fringe” appeared as a challenge to the official festival. Eight theatre groups turned up uninvited in 1947, in the belief that everyone should have the right to perform, and they did so in a public house disused for years.

Soon, groups of students firstly from Edinburgh University, and later from the universities of Oxford and Cambridge, Durham and Birmingham were making the journey to the Scottish capital each summer to perform theatre by littleknown writers of plays in small church halls to the people of Edinburgh.

Today the “Fringe”, once less recognized, has far outgrown the festival with around 1,500 performances of theatre, music and dance on every one of the 21 days it lasts. And yet as early as 1959, with only 19 theatre groups performing, some said it was getting too big.

A paid administrator was first employed only in 1971, and today there are eight administrators working all year round and the number rises to 150 during August itself. In 2004 there were 200 places housing 1,695 shows by over 600 different groups from 50 different countries.More than 1.25 million tickets were sold.

43.We may learn from the text that Edinburgh Festival ________.

  A.has become a nonofficial event

B.has gone beyond an art festival

  C.gives shows all year round

  D.keeps growing rapidly,

(1)A paid administrator in 1971→today eight administrators working all year round→150 during August itself

  (2)In 1959, only 19 theatre groups→In 2004,200 places, 1,695

shows, 600 different groups, 50 different countries

(3)In 2004, more than 1.25 million tickets were sold.

31.What you have just read is a ________.

  A.note B.report

  C.schedule

  D.poster
