  A

Jim Deitz believes he’s creating a landmark(里程碑)in Grand Forks,North Dakota, but the downtown apartment house he’s painting polka dots(小圆点)on is making a city planner annoyed.

The retired house painter was putting the final polka dots on his hometurnedapartments, where passersby have been gathering to watch him work. Some people nodded but some seemed to be uninterested in it when watching the apartment.

“Pizza delivery drivers won’t have any trouble finding this place,”Deitz said so when talking about his building that

was painted in his own style.“Yon can’t miss it.”

Ryan Brooks, the city’s senior planner, said the polka dot house is an unpleasant sight there.“It’s hard to say what this gentleman’s true motives are.I think my opinion is the same as everybody else’s—I wouldn’t want to be living next to it.”Brooks said,“But the city doesn’t have a rule that forbids homeowners from painting their houses certain colors and in certain styles.”

Deitz insists that the polka dots are meant simply to brighten up the neighborhood and are not as a form of protest.Eight tenants(房客)now are living in the home, and none of them minds the new paint style.“Now people are waiting in line to get in this place so I am not worried about whether there will be a decrease of the number of my tenants,”he said.

Deitz researched several different paint jobs before picking the polka dots.“I looked at all kinds of crazy paint jobs on the Internet and came up with this polka dot idea. She looks good.”Deitz said.

Brooks believes the idea of the polka dots won’t spread to other neighborhoods in the city.“I don’t see this as a trend because most people take a 1ittle pride in their homes,”Brooks said.“The paint he’s putting on that thing is the only thing new on it.It’s in rough shape.”

  退休油漆工Deitz把自己的公寓漆成圆点花纹,这一风格引起人们的格外关注,同时也遭到非议。

A.Because he doesn’t like the colors and the style.

B.Because he thinks it brings bad influence to the city.

D.Because the tenants show little interest in it.

解析:推理判断题。根据第四段But the city doesn’t have a rule that forbids homeowners from painting their houses certain colors and in certain styles但是城市没有规定禁止房主把房子刷成什么颜色和变成什么风格,可推知,Brooks不喜欢这个想法是因为它的色彩和风格。
