　　After graduating from college, I decided to try for a job at a radio station, and then I would become a sports announcer. I went to Chicago and knocked on the door of every station, but got turned down every time.

　　Seeing I was disappointed, my mother said, “Everything happens for the best. If you keep on trying, one day something good will happen. You’ll realize that it wouldn’t have happened if not for that previous disappointment.”

　　While looking for a job, the author suffered one failure after another, which made him feel very disappointed. It was his mother’s encouraging words that inspired him to go on trying until he succeeded.

　　The story reminds me of the similar experience of the famous poet Li Bai. His life is full of frustrations, which we can conclude from his famous lines “Should I bow to the powerful and rich people, which makes me unhappy?” But was he frustrated when he was in trouble? No, smiling to the failure bravely, he quit officialdom, travelled to many places and wrote many great poems.

　　Li Bai took a positive attitude when in a difficult situation and that is why he succeeded in the end. From his experience, I learned that sometimes failure is not a bad thing. The real bad thing is to lose our heart after failure. Instead of being distressed and lost, we should draw a lesson from every failure and project a positive attitude towards life.

　　As the saying goes, when life hands you lemons, make lemonade. A positive mental attitude is item number one in keeping you motivated and finally leading you to success, no matter what life throws at you.
