  【多维精练】第二节 (共小题;每小题分,满分0分)

  Passage 1

How to be a good communicator

  16

they’ve been heard and they’ve been understood. As a good communicator should be a good listener, five steps are advocated toward good listening.

The first step is cooperating. How does a difficult person know that you’re listening and understanding? In fact, it’s through the way you look and sound while he is talking.

  17

When the person begins to repeat what’s been said, it’s signal of step two: turning back.

  18

Send a clear signal that you’re listening carefully and that you think what he is saying is important.

Having heard what he has to say, the next step is clarifying. At this point, you start to gather information about what is being communicated.

  19

The fourth step is to summarize(概括)what you’ve heard.

  20

Having listened carefully, you’ve now arrived at the point of confirming with the person that he feels that his thoughts have been fully voiced. Ask if he feels understood.

When enough sincere listening, questioning, and remembering are brought together, understanding is usually achieved and a difficult person becomes less difficult and more cooperative.

Ask some open-ended questions, which will allow you to figure out what intention he is hoping to satisfy.

This allows you to make sure that both you and the difficult person are on the same page.

  C. It means that you repeat back some words he is using.

  D. When difficult people express themselves orally, they generally want at least two things:

  E. When you communicate with who have difficulty expressing themselves, they need your help.

  F. Giving clear signals tell him that you have understood him completely.

  G. You do this by nodding your head in agreement, making certain sounds of understanding.

  Passage 2

For more than six million American children, coming home after school means coming to an empty house. 36_______ Some may hide. But all of them have something in common. They spend part of each day alone. They are called latchkey children. They are children who look after themselves while their parents work. 37_______

Lynette Long was once the headmaster of an elementary school. She said, “We had a school rule against wearing jewelry. A lot of kids had chains around their necks with keys attached. I was constantly telling them to put them inside shirts. There were so many keys. It never came to my mind what they meant.” 38________

She and her husband began talking to the children who had them. They learned of the impact working couples and single parents were having on their children. 39 _______ One in every three latchkey children the Logs talked to reported being scared. Many had nightmares and were worried about their own safety.

The most common way latchkey children deal with their fears is by hiding. 40 ________

The second is TV. They’ll often play it at high volume. It’s hard to get statistics(情况)on latchkey children, the Longs learned. Most parents are slow to admit they leave their children alone.

  A. Slowly, she learned they were house keys.

  B. But they don’t mind.

  C. Fear is the biggest problem faced by children at home alone.

  Passage 3

The Internet has opened up a whole new online world for us to meet, chat and go where we’ve never been before.

But just as in face-to-face communication, there are some rules of behavior that should be followed when on line.  36   Imagine how you’d feel if you were in the other person’s shoes.

For anything you’re about to send: ask yourself, “Would I say this to the person’s face?” If the answer is no, rewrite and reread.   37

If someone in the chat room is rude to you, your instinct (本能) is to fire back in the same manner. But try not to do so.  38   If it was caused by a disagreement with another member, try to fix the situation by politely discussing it. Remember to respect the beliefs and opinions of others in the chat room.

39   Offer advice when asked by newcomers, as they may not be sure what to do or how to communicate. When someone makes a mistake, whether it’s a stupid question or an unnecessarily long answer, be kind about it. If it’s a small mistake, you may not need to say anything. Even if you feel strongly about it, think twice before saying anything. Having good manners yourself doesn’t give you license to correct everyone else.  40   At the same time, if you find you are wrong, be sure to correct yourself and apologize to those that you have offended.

It is not polite to ask others personal questions such as their age, sex and marital status. Unless you know the person very well, and you are both comfortable with sharing personal information, don’t ask such questions.

  A. It’s natural that they’re some people who speak rudely or make mistakes online.

  B. Repeat the process till you feel sure that you’d feel comfortable saying the words to the person’s face.

  C. Everyone was new to the network once.

  D. The basic rule is simple: treat others in the same way you would want to be treated.

  E. When you send short messages to a person online, you must say something beautiful to hear.

  F. You should either ignore the person, or use your chat software to block their messages.

  G. If you do decide to tell someone about a mistake, point it out politely.

  Passage 4

Most of life is habitual. You do the same things you did yesterday, the day before and every day for the last month.

  36

The key is controlling them. If you know how to change your habits, then even a small effort can create big changes. Here are some tips to get you started:

  One Habit For 30 Days

You focus on one change for thirty days.

  37

I’ve used this as the basis for most of my habit changes. It definitely works to sculpt(使成形)the automatic programs that run in the background of your mind.

  Replace Lost Needs

If you opened up your computer and started removing hardware, what would happen? Chances are that your computer wouldn’t work.

  38

Giving up television might mean you need

to find a new way to relax or get information.

  Write it Down

  Don’t leave commitments(承诺)in your brain.

  39

This does two things. First, it makes it clear what your change means. Second, it keeps you committed since it is easy to dismiss a thought, but harder to dismiss a promise printed in front of you.

  Balance Feedback

The difference between long-term change and giving up one day 31 is the balance of feedback. If your change creates more pain in your life than joy, it is going to be hard to stick to.

  40__

Find diets, exercise, financial plans and work routines that are fun to follow and support you.

  A. Write them on paper.

  B. Habits, good or bad, make you who you are.

  C. Make a public commitment to everyone you know that you’re going to stick with it.

  D. Make sure your habit is not always changed.

  E. Don’t go to the gym if you hate it.

  F. Similarly, you can’t just pull out habits without replacing the needs they fulfill.

C.How to get rid of the harmful effects of comparison needs exploring.

D.However, there is no doubt that good luck can't be ignored.

E.Instead, you should fad out what's really going on behind the scenes

F.And once we become aware of what we value, we are much better positioned to create a richly satisfying life

G.When we reflect on these questions, we shift immediately out of comparison mode and turn inwards.Passage 6

  On Punctuality

A punctual man is in the habit of doing everything at the proper time and is never late in keeping an appointment.

The unpunctual man, on the other hand, never does what he has to do at the proper time. ___36___ There is a proverb that says, “time flies never to be recalled”. This is very true. ___37___ Time is more valuable than material things. In fact, time is life itself, and the unpunctual man is forever wasting and mismanaging his own valuable assets as well as others’. The unpunctual man is always complaining that he finds no time to answer letters, or to return calls, or to keep appointments promptly. ___38___ He knows that he can’t get through his immense amount of work unless he faithfully keeps every appointment promptly and deal with every piece of work when it has to be attended to.

___39___ If a person is invited to a dinner and arrives later than expected, he keeps all the other guests and the host waiting him alone. This is great disrespect.

___40___ Imagine how it would be if who are entrusted with important tasks failed to be at their proper place at the appointed time. A man who is known to be habitually unpunctual is never trusted by his friends or his fellow men. And the unpunctual man is a source of annoyance both to others and to himself.

Failure to be punctual is a sign of disrespect towards others.

A lost thing may be found again, but lost time can never be regained.

He is always in a hurry and in the end loses both his time and his good name.

Unpunctuality is very harmful when it comes to doing one’s duty.

Of these the former are the majority.

But the man who really has a great deal to do is very careful of his time and seldom complains of want of it.

Broadly speaking, humans can be divided into two classes.
