第一节(共15小题:每小题2分,满分30分)
阅读下列短文,从每题所给的四个选项(A、B、C和D)中,选出最佳选项,并在答题卡上将该项涂黑。
ARobots are being used for the first time in hospitals. "Robot-nurses" perform a variety of tasks such as delivering medicine, food and laboratory samples to sickrooms and taking away waste. Patients aren't treated by robots, as this is still done by medical staff. The idea is to employ robots to transport supplies between departments.
牋牋bo "Nurses often have to break off from what they are doing to gather supplies," says Peter Seiff, who makes the robots called TUGs. Research shows any interruption in medical work can lead to errors-a nurse may forget whether she has given medicine and may give a patient double the dose (剂量) or none at all.
The robots vary in size according to what job they perform, but normally take the shape of a metal box on wheels, with a box on the side containing their software.
After being programmed, the robots are able to find their way around a hospital unassisted. They also contain scanning technology to create electronic pictures or a "memory" of routes on their hard drives to help them go through passages, doors and other obstacles. Each robot is also monitored at the producer's headquarters (总部) in case it runs into any difficulties.
Trials show TUGs reduce the time it takes for a patient to receive medicine, and stop drugs from going missing. A study at the University of Maryland Medical Centre in the U.S. found that when three TUGs were used over the course of a year, the average length of time from the drugstore receiving a prescription to the patient receiving it dropped from 74 minutes to 30 minutes and saved nurses 6,123 hours finding medicines. It also cut the number of medicines that went missing to zero.
牋牋ri "The biggest complaints we receive from patients is that the nurses don't spend enough time with them. Anything that frees nurses is boon," says Katherine Mulligan, director of nursing at the hospital, "The TUGs allow nurses to spend more time focusing on patient care. Nurse satisfaction has improved."
21. Why do the patients complain before ?
A. the nurses often make errors.
B. the robots may interrupt the treatment.
C. the nurse often give a patient double the dose.

A. Robots can do many tasks.
B. All robots have the same size.
C. Robots are unable to find their way by themselves.
D. Robots cannot get help if they run into difficulties.
23. What is the main idea of paragraph 5? .
A. Experiments show "Robot-nurses" perform well.
B. "Robot-nurses" can save time.
C. "Robot-nurses" can cut the number of medicine.
D. "Robot-nurses" vary in size.
24.What is the attitude of the author to robot-nurses?
A. disappointed.
B. Positive.

Every girl dreams and Li Xie is no exception. She has read dozens of books on how to be a ballerina(芭蕾舞女演员). “Swan Lake” is her favorite. She hopes one day her dream will come true. She has taken ballet lessons and all her teachers confirm she is a good student.
One day she saw an advertisement that a famous ballerina group will be performing in her hometown. "I must meet up with the leader of the group and show him my skills," she whispered to herself. She dressed herself and hid in the dressing room. To her luck the leader entered and she timidly(胆怯地)knocked at the door. She bravely approached him and handed him a bunch of red roses. the thorns(刺)hurt her hand but she did not care about the pain. The leader observed her action as she told him her dream. "Alright, you dance and I will give you my conclusion." But half way through the dance he stopped her and said, "I'm sorry you're not good enough!" A skilled traveler can take a taxi, buy food in a market, and get directions from a stranger through hand gestures alone.
Things can get lost in translation when a typical gesture from your country means something completely different in other parts of the world.
Below are some common North American gestures that often cause problems abroad.
1. V in Australia and England
In 1992, George Bush visited Australia and from the window of his car, held up his index(食指)and middle fingers in the “V” shape. This V means victory in England, or peace in North America. Too bad it means “up yours.” in Australia.
2. OK in France
Making a circle with your finger means “great” or “fine” in North America. It’s also used by divers to communicate that there are no problems. In France, however, this gesture means “zero.” Unless you’re motioning to a French diver, you might be communicating that something (or someone) is worthless.
3. One-handed giving in Japan
In the West, people aren’t especially mindful of their hands when they offer objects to others. In Japan, it is polite and expected for people to make offerings with both hands. If you give someone a business card, or hand them your camera to take a photo, be sure to pass on the item with both hands. This shows that you are fully attentive and careful in the offering. A one-handed presentation might be taken as dismissive(蔑视的).
4. “Got your Nose!” in Turkey
A man with the gesture doesn’t have a set North American meaning, except when playing “got your nose” with a child. It also means the letter “T” in American Sign Language. In Turkey, this gesture is aggressively rude.
29. If you want to express your satisfaction in North America, you can use____ .
A. “V” gesture
B. “OK” gesture
C. “Thumbs-up”
D. “Got your nose”
30. What can we infer from the passage?
A. The gestures are the same around the world.
B. A “v” gesture in England means peace
C.A “OK” gesture in America means “ZERO”
D. You had better give someone something with both hands in Japan.
31. Which part does the passage belong to in newspaper?
A. sports
B. education
C. food
D. tourism
32. Who might be interested in this passage?
A. Americans.
B. Japanese.
C. Frenchmen.
D. Englishmen.

As is often the case, when people are attending meeting, having meals or waiting buses, you can always find them addicted to their phones, complete ignoring others.
This is really a common phenomenon in our life. The reason is why smart phones nowadays can be used for people to play mobile games and kept in touch with friends through QQ and WeChat. But, too much exposure to phones are bad for people in terms of health. Moreover, people involved in phones fail to communicate good with those around them.
As far as I am concerning, people should wisely make use of their phones to help with their work and study. Meanwhile, care most about their family and friends rather than mobile phones.
