2016高考训练题。阅读理解阅读下列短文,从每题所给的四个选项(A、B、C和D)中,选出最佳选项。People believed for a long time that the heart was the center of a person's emotions. That is why the word "heart" is used in so many expressions about emotional situations.

One such expression is to "lose your heart" to someone. When that happens, you have fallen in love. But if the person who won your heart does not love you, then you are sure to have a "broken heart." In your pain and sadness, you may decide that the person you loved is "hard-hearted," and in fact, has a "heart of stone."

You may decide to "pour out your heart" to a friend. Telling someone about your personal problems can often make you feel better.

If your friend does not seem to understand how painful your broken heart is, you may ask her to "have a heart." You are asking your friend to show some sympathy for your situation. Your friend "has her heart in the right place" if she says she is sorry, and shows great concern for how you feel.

Your friend may, however, warn you not to "wear your heart on your sleeve." In other words, do not let everyone see how lovesick you are. When your heart is on your sleeve you are showing your deepest emotions.

If your friend says "my heart bleeds for you," she means the opposite. She is a cold-hearted person who does not really care about your situation.

In the ever-popular motion picture, "The Wizard of Oz,"(绿野仙踪) the Tin Man seeks a heart. He wanted to feel the emotion of love, and was seeking help from the powerful Wizard of Oz to find a heart.

The Cowardly Lion, in the same movie, did “have a heart”. But he lacked courage and wanted to ask the Wizard of Oz to give him some. You could say that the cowardly lion was "chicken-hearted." That is another way of describing someone who is not very brave. A chicken is not noted for its bravery. Thus, someone who is chicken-hearted does not have much courage.

When you are frightened or concerned, your "heart is in your mouth." You might say, for example, that your heart was in your mouth when you asked a bank to lend you some money to pay for a new house.

  阅读理解。阅读下列短文,从每题所给的四个选项(A、B、C和D)中,选出最佳选项。

This is an open letter to the three people who stole my handbag from the department store I am employed as a shop assistant.

When you took my bag, I don’t know what you thought you were going to get. With my wages, there's not much left on a Tuesday. I hope the £5 was useful to you . I have informed the social security office so you won’t be able to cash the child benefit next week. I hope that won't leave you too short. But if you really need a couple of pounds, I suppose you could always cash one of the two checks left in my check book. Of course, I phoned the bank right away and the check-casing card is no longer valid, so it won’t be much use to you.

Actually I don’t mind about the money too much. We single parents who work to support our families understand only too well what it means to be short of cash. However, I don’t suppose it went very far among the three of you. Sorry about that!

I wish you had left the bag behind and just taken the wallet and check book. There were all kinds of papers in it, and notes and things that I really need. I really think that was very inconsiderate of you. I mean, how would you like something like that to happen to you?

Well, perhaps the bag will turn up. It wasn’t even an expensive one, just a plain, old brown leather shoulder bag. You probably dumped it in the nearest rubbish bin or threw it into the bushes. We've looked around, of course, but no one saw which way you went after you left the shop.

I'm not really angry with you. I know how the pressures of modern living can affect us, but I am sad at the loss of my personal things. I feel violated and helpless. The police were very icy, and they just shrugged their shoulders. “It happens all the time,” they told me. Some small comfort, I suppose. But I’ve lost just a little more faith in human nature. And as my young son said when

told him what had happened, “Why? Mummy, why us?” I couldn't answer that question. I wonder if you can.

  1. In writing Paragraph 2, the writer wants to

  .

  A. describe the contents of the bag in detail.

  B. give some suggestions to the three thieves

  C. state the fact that she was careless with the money

  D. tell the thieves hardly any money was available

  2. Which of the following is the most valuable to the writer?

  A. The cash in her bag. B. The handbag itself.

  C. The papers and notes in the bag. D. The check books in the bag.

  3. What can we conclude about the police?

  A. They think the case quite common.

  B. They show sympathy for the woman.

  C. They have doubts about human nature.

  D. They are unable to find the thieves.

  4. Why does the author write the letter?

  A. To give the thieves a serious warning.

  B. To express her affection for her valuable bag.

  C. To call people’s attention to their belongings.

  D. To complain about the fall of morality.

The practice of swapping fashions has recently been attracting attention worldwide, particularly in Europe and the United States. This is an activity aimed at making more effective use of resources by providing a platform for people to exchange free of charge those fashion items in their closets that they don’t use anymore.

In London, fashion swap events sponsored by the credit card company VISA focus on the swapping of specific brands. Japan’s first major fashion swap event, “xChange,” was held in September 2007 in Tokyo. The xChange event is designed to exchange not only fishing items but also information and feelings from the owners of the clothes, using what is called an “episode tag.” Participants put tags on each of the items they bring and write their name and a bride episode about the items.

For example, a tag of a white jacket read, “This is a gift from a friend, but it’s just not my style.” On a tag attached to a pair of red shoes, a person wrote. “These don’t fit me anymore. I hope someone who loves red can use them.” Just as shoppers check price tags, some people check the episode tags before making a selection, imagining who used to wear the item. The episode tags make people aware of the human connection by exchanging goods.

  Many

participants say things like, “I’m very lucky to get such lovely clothes for free,” and “I was happy to see someone try on and choose what I brought here.” Unwanted clothes for one person can be new and exciting for someone else. Besides, xChange achieves close to a 100-percent reuse rate by donating leftover clothes to companies that reuse or recycle secondhand clothing. Anything they cannot use, they then donate to developing countries or reuse them as rags.

Since 2007, the xChange event has been held every two or three months in a different region of Japan, always attracting many participants. This success is probably because it is an active event that gives participants opportunities to enjoy fashion without increasing the impact on the environment.

  1. What's the main purpose of the fashion exchange?

  A. To attract people's attention.

  B. To make good use of resources.

  C. To get rid of unwanted clothes.

  D. To try to avoid buying new clothes.

答案解析:答案为B。 本题为细节题。由第一段第二句话 “This is an activity aimed at making more effective use of resources by…”可知,答案为B。

  2. What is special about "an episode tag"?

  A. It provides personal information of the owner.

  B. It is being attached by a price tag.

  C. It gives details of a fashion item.

  D. It includes brief information of the item and feelings of the owner.

答案解析:答案为D。本题为词义推测题。由第二段 “The xChange event is designed to exchange not only fishing items but also information and feelings from the owners of the clothes, using what is called an “episode tag.”可知,答案为D。

  3. That the xChange event has achieved success is probably because ____.

  A. it donates secondhand clothing to developing countries

  B. it changes people's way of consuming

  C. offers an example of enjoying fashion without damaging environment

  D. it shows fashion is the best policy for women

答案解析:答案为C。本题为细节题。由最后一段 “This success is probably because it is an active event that gives participants opportunities to enjoy fashion without increasing the impact on the environment.”可知,答案为C。

  4. Which of the following can be the best title of the passage?

  A. "Fashion Exchange" Concept Grows in Japan.

  B. "xChange" Environment Meets the Fashion Industry.

  C. The Global Rise of the Fashion Exchange.

  D. Join in "xChange".

答案解析:答案为A。本题为主旨大意题。由第二段 “Japan’s first major fashion swap event, ‘xChange,’ was held in September 2007 in Tokyo.” 可知,第一届Fashion Exchange2007年在日本东京举办,后文对其进行了介绍,最后一段呼应文章的中心 “Since 2007, the xChange event has been held every two or three months in a different region of Japan, always attracting many participants.”, 因此本文主要介绍Fashion Exchange在日本的盛行,尽管第一段提到Fashion Exchange在欧美受到了欢迎,但这仅仅是Fashion Exchange的影响,故最佳标题为A。

I don't think comic book "collector" really applies to me at all. I’m probably more of a comic book "appreciator". My interest has always been in what can be accomplished with the medium of "visual story-telling".

I'm not sure exactly where this interest of mine came from. I do know that as a child, comic books allowed me to improve my reading skills. “The Mighty Thor" helped me develop an interest in old legends, and “Challengers of the Unknown" got me crazy about science fiction. The combination of words and pictures was a perfect springboard for my childhood imagination.

How does one learn to appreciate comic book art? There is a classic example that sheds quite a bit of light on the subject. Writer Scott Macloud just explains what makes a comic book stand out in his best selling book Understanding Comics. The book, first published in 1994, has been translated into 13 languages and is practically a bible for students studying graphic illustration (图示说明)

  in novels.

On the internet there are some cool comic book sites to be found—hundreds and hundreds of them as a matter of fact. More than a few are dedicated to super heroes and the like. But there are some choice sites that I would visit, because they provide some great resources that discuss the comic book as an art form. Noteworthy among them is a great article and interview at www. rcharvey. corn, which discusses the impact of several artists and writers in the field.

I have a huge admiration for anyone who can produce comic stories that can make readers think, laugh and cry. Maybe make them dream.

Check it out. Spend two dollars on a comic book and read it with your children. Or better yet, search out some of the more “adult" tides and read it for yourself. You may find yourself enjoying what you see and read. You may even find yourself wanting more.

  1. What does the author mainly intend to talk about in Paragraph 2?

  A. Influence of comic books on reading in childhood.

  B. Ways to improve one's reading skills.

  C. Subjects of comic books.

  D. Popularity of two comic books.

答案解析:答案为A。本题为段落大意题。细读第二段可知 “I'm not sure exactly where this interest of mine came from. I do know that as a child, comic books allowed me to improve my reading skills.”为本段的中心句,后面的内容都是对此进行了解释说明,故答案为A。

  2. The underlined part "sheds quite a bit of light on" (Para.3)

  means "____".

  Adoes a basic research on

  B. causes a fierce debate on

  C. provides new information on

  D. makes a quick survey on

  答案解析:答案为C。本题为语义推断题。结合划线部分的后面两句话可知,Writer Scott Macloud写了一本书,被翻译成13种语言,帮助学生理解漫画。划线部分的意思与C选项最接近。故答案为C。

  3. If you want to know a few good writers of comic books, you will probably ____.

  A. read Understanding Comics

  B. visit www.rcharvey.corn

  Cbuy some comic books

  D. turn to comic story writers

答案解析:答案为B。本题为细节题。由第四段最后一句话 “Noteworthy among them is a great article and interview at www. rcharvey. corn, which discusses the impact of several artists and writers in the field.”可知,答案为B。

  4. What does the author encourage people to do?

  A. Develop an interest in old legends and science fiction.

  B. Share a comic book with children.

  C. Produce some comic stories.

  D. Spend money and time appreciating comic books.

答案解析:答案为D。本题考查作者的态度观点。由最后一段 “Check it out. Spend two dollars on a comic book and read it with your children.”可知,答案为D。

Although many Chinese students say that their knowledge of English grammar is good ,most would admit that their spoken English is poor .Whenever I speak to a Chinese student they always say, “My spoken English is poor.” However, their spoken English does not have to remain “poor”! I would like to suggest that there may be some reasons for their problems with spoken English.

First, they fail to find suitable words to express themselves due to a limited vocabulary. Obviously the better answer is to expand their vocabulary. However, you can speak with a limited vocabulary, if your attitude is positive .Others will follow you as long as you use the words that you know.

Second, they are afraid of making mistakes. Sometimes they make mistakes when they are speaking because they are shy and nervous .Yet students should remember that their goal should be FLUENCY NOT ACCURACY. Your aim in writing is to be accurate following the rules for grammar and using the right words and spelling them correctly .However, in speaking your aim is fluency. You want to get your message across ,to talk to someone in English ,as quickly and as well as you can ,even though sometimes you may use a wrong word or tense ,but it doesn’t matter because the person you are speaking to will understand you and make allowances(留出余地,体谅)for any mistakes he hears.

The third reason is that not enough attention is paid to listening .You have one mouth but two ears! All that hearing was necessary for you to start speaking.

Fourth, most Chinese students are reactive rather than proactive language learners .Instead of actively seeking out opportunities to improve their spoken English they passively wait for speaking opportunities to come to them and wonder why their English always remains poor .If you have this proactive outlook ,then you will see English opportunities wherever you go.

If you do not use your English beyond the classroom you will forget what English you know .Remember: USE IT OR LOSE IT! You can learn how to speak English better by speaking English more.

  5. What is most probably the writer’s purpose in writing the passage?

  A. To improve your reading. B. To improve your spoken English.

  C. To improve your listening.

  D. To improve your vocabulary.

  6. It can be inferred from the third paragraph that

  .

  A. don’t be afraid of making mistakes .Just speak!

  B. don’t be nervous ,don’t be shy .Just write!

  C. don’t be fluency .Just be accuracy

  D. don’t be shy ,don’t be fluency. Just listen and write!

  7. The text is most probably taken from a

  .

  A. teacher’s diary

  B. report on study

  C. sports newspaper D. movie magazine
