(2017·安庆高三模拟考试二)Long long ago, a circle missed one piece of its own. The circle wanted to be whole, so it went around looking for its __1__ piece. But because it was __2__ and therefore could roll only very slowly, it __3__ the flowers along the way. It __4__ with the worms. It enjoyed the sunshine. It found lots of different pieces, but __5__ of them fitted. So it left them all by the side of the road and __6__ searching. Then one day the circle found a piece that fitted __7__. It incorporated (把……并入) the missing piece into itself and began to roll. __8__ it was a perfect circle, it could roll very fast, __9__ fast to notice the flowers or talk to the worms. After it realized how different the world seemed when it rolled so quickly, it __10__, left its found piece by the side of the road and rolled slowly away.

The __11__ of the story, I suggest, is that in some strange __12__ we are more whole when we are missing something. The man who has __13__ is in some way a poor man. He will never know what it __14__ like to nourish (滋养) his soul with the dream of something __15__. When we accept that __16__ is part of being human and when we can continue rolling __17__ life and appreciate it, we will have __18__ wholeness that others can only desire, which, I believe, is __19__ God asks of us — not “Be perfect”, not “Don't even make a mistake”, __20__ “Be whole”.

A couple of weeks ago, a few friends and I had an opportunity to attend a dear friend's wedding in New York. After the wedding and reception, rather accidentally four of us gathered in a hotel room and began to explore the deeper meaning of life and death. What does it mean to live truly? If we are all getting closer to death, is all the material accumulation worth it? It is not exactly the type of conversations one has at a

  wedding.

While the answers varied from person to person, I was left with more questions than answers and a feeling of gratefulness to be surrounded by friends who were asking the “right” questions. As the clock kept ticking past 3 am, one of the roommates suggested we watch a short film titled “Last Days of Zach Sobiech”. The premise of the film is about a teenager's journey through the last days of his terminal illness. The film brought up a lot of mixed emotions but one quote that stood out for me was Zach's simple explanation of happiness, “What makes one happy is seeing someone else smile because you put it there.” By 4 am, there was this energy

in the room that had to be shared!

With a few packages of postit notes and sharpies, we hit the halls of the hotel. We decided to leave short inspirational words on guests' doors, so when they open their doors few hours later a smile would turn up.

We ended up tagging all the doors until we ran out of postit notes. The note on the door of the newlyweds properly said, “Where there is love, there is life.”

1.About exploring “the deeper meaning of life and death” at a wedding the author thinks ________.

  A.it is interesting

  B.it is instructive

  C.it is not proper

  D.it is rather meaningful

2.After watching the film, what impressed the author most?

  A.Zach's struggle with illness.

  B.Zach's simple explanation of happiness.

  C.Zach's poor fate.

  D.Zach's mixed emotions.

3.What did the author and his friends do after they saw the film?

A.They made a smile card for all the doors of the hotel.

B.They thanked the wedding couple gratefully for invitation.

C.They shared happiness with the workers of the hotel.

D.They knocked doortodoor to offer help in the hotel.

4.What can we learn from the author and his friends' action?

A.Two heads are better than one.

B.A friend in need is a friend indeed.

  C.Good is rewarded with good.

D.One who brings happiness to others is also happy oneself.Ⅰ.

  3.解析:选C 此处与后文的“It enjoyed the sunshine.” 5.解析:选D 下文说“left them all by the side of the road”,由此可见,圆形找到的这些不同的小块都不合适,故用none“没有一个”,表示全部否定。6. 12.解析:选C 这里用短语in a/some sense表示“从某种意义上说”。13. 20.解析:选A 此空与前面的“not”呼应,选A,not ... but ... 根据第一段最后一句“It is not exactly the type of conversations one has at a wedding.”

根据第二段第四句中的“but one quote that stood out for me was Zach's simple explanation of happiness”可知,这部电影给作者留下的最深刻印象是Zach对幸福的简单解释。故选B。3. 根据第二段的倒数第一句和倒数第二句“With a few packages of postit notes and sharpies, we hit the

halls of the hotel. We decided to leave short inspirational words on guests' doors, so when they open their doors few hours later a smile would turn up.”可知选A。4. 通读全文,尤其是由第二段第四句中的“What makes one happy is seeing someone else smile because you put it there.”可知选D。
