(2015·四川绵阳高中诊断性考试)One day I was walking home along the street with my iPod on, when suddenly my headphones
were knocked off my head and a man threw his arm around my neck, saying
“Just be quiet”.
I was being attacked, and this man's arm was gripping (紧夹) onto me! I started screaming and tried to pull him off me, but failed. He was forcing me to walk towards the back of an auto repair shop and he just kept saying
“Be quiet”.
My mind froze with fear. Then I heard my great-grandmother's voice in my head. She was saying
“Come on now, I know you are stronger than that!” She was the rock in our family until she died four years ago.
I have never had any self-defense (自卫) training, but I went for it — I let out a loud scream as I kicked my leg back into his shin (胫骨)! He let go of me and I ran off. When I looked back to see if he was running after me, I saw he was running in the opposite direction. Then I ran like crazy to a nearby drugstore.
I asked the girl at the counter for the phone and called my mom. She picked me up five minutes later and I explained what happened through sobs. “I am calling the police!”
She exclaimed. When we got home, two officers were waiting for us and I told them what had happened.
After my experience, I was afraid to do anything. Things slowly got better, but I still don't like anyone going near my neck.
The fear isn't totally gone — after all, the guy is still out there somewhere. But I had a new understanding of my own strength. I never expected to be able to fight off an attacker. I am stronger than I realized.

Are you willing to work for a robot boss? Sorry if your answer was “no”, because it will be common in the near future, according to researchers from Oxford.
A__third__of__British__jobs__are__at__“high__risk”__of__being__replaced__by__robots in the next 20 years, the research by Deloitte, the Oxford Martin School and the University of Oxford found.
Wired magazine went further. ?It may be hard to believe, but before the end of this century, 70 percent of today's occupations will be replaced by automation (自动化技术),” said the magazine in 2017.
Of course, people being replaced by robots is not recent news. Robots have been taking over labor work in factories and on farms for some time, lifting heavy boxes and picking fruit and vegetables. Next, cleaning chores in offices and schools will be taken over by late-night robots, starting with easy-to-do floors and windows and eventually moving to toilets, Wired predicted.
But that's just the beginning. Even white-collar jobs are not safe. Any job dealing with sales, services or lots of paperwork could be taken over by robots in the future. For example, in the UK, library assistants have decreased by 48 percent since 2001, sales-related jobs have fallen by 40 percent, and travel agents by 44 percent, the Daily Mail reported.
But that doesn't mean that human beings will have nothing to do in the future. Instead, we need to update our skills. Digital (数字化的) know-how, management and creativity will be in greater demand in the future, said British consulting company Deloitte.

A.70% B.48%
C.44%
D.40%

(2015·长沙四校模拟)My friendship with Yang Qing began when we meet in our school's photo club. From then on we became good friend.
We had common interest on basketball and often shared our experience about photographing. On weekends we rode to play the basketball together. Now in Senior 3, we seldom play together, or still keep in touch and encourage each other. With the College Entrance Examination comes near, I'm worried about what my life will like as we may go to different universities. But now what doesn't worry me any more. Because I know just as the old saying goes: truly friendship will always live on no matter where far apart we are.

It is known to all that nothing is much precious than time. A famous saying goes, “Time is money”, which shows that time is invaluable. When time is gone, it
never return. But it is pity that some people didn't make full use of their time. They spend a lot of time sleep, chatting or playing computer game. They don't realize that wasting time is actual equal to killing themselves. We always regret not having made great achievements. However, to be successful, they should first form the habit of being on time. Don't put down what can be done today until tomorrow. Being lazy will eventually lead to failure.
