重庆市2017高考英语阅读理解选编(87)(附解析)
【2015高考复习】阅读理解With more and more cars on the road, traffic jams are inevitable.Traffic jams can lead to increased accidents as there are more cars, with more people trying to get to their destination, all the while getting worse.Although it's impossible to avoid traffic jams altogether, there are some tips you can follow to reduce the amount of time on the road.
Check for traffic jams before you leave. You can listen to the radio for traffic news,or check on the Internet to get uptominute information on traffic. If the route you want to take is heavy with traffic, you can choose another.
Look for a different route permanently. Most traffic jams occur on busy roads.Using country roads could see you avoiding a lot of traffic.Although the distance you may have to travel is further,it can work out quicker.
Set your car radio to receive traffic bulletins. Many new car stereo systems(汽车音响系统)are equipped with a radio system by which you can hear the traffic channel. This way you can get the latest traffic information and change your journey if necessary.
________.Most traffic jams usually occur during rush hour,so try to avoid this time period if possible. Some jobs offer flexible working hours so that you can travel to work outside of rush hour. Some jobs even allow you to work from home so as to avoid commuting altogether.Ask your manager to see what you can do if traffic is a problem for you.
Use public transport alternatives where available. The easiest way to avoid traffic jams is to take buses or the underground instead of driving your own car.Not only will you avoid traffic jams but you will most likely be saving money as the cost of motoring rises.

阅读理解 (2017·吉安模拟) Clothes can make phone calls, play music, dial your pal’s number, keep you warm during cold weather and operate your computer.
This is not a fantasy. A British company, called Electrotextiles, has created a wide range of clothes—clothes that have minds of their own! Scientists, working for the company, have invented a kind of fabric that can be blended(混合)with flexible electronic materials to create intelligent clothing. The result is electronic garments.
If you think the wearer has to be wired to different devices, think again. These designer clothes are wire-free, soft to touch and washable! Like any electronic device, these high-tech clothes have to be powered. Currently, a tiny nine-volt battery serves the purpose. But the researchers hope that in the near future the clothes will generate electricity by using body heat. These clothes are 100 percent shock proof, they say.
The Electrotextiles team has also created the world’s first cloth keyboard. This keyboard can be sewn into your trousers or skirt. To use this device, you will have to sit down and tap on your lap! These“lap-tap”gadgets(器具)are all set to take over laptop computers!
Another useful garment is the shirt-cum-mobile phone. This handy invention enables drivers to chat comfortably with others at the wheel! Other popular electronic wear includes the denim(牛仔布)jacket with flexible earphones sewn into the hood(风帽)and the electronic ski jacket with a built-in heater. The ski jacket is also programmed to send signals to a satellite. This technology is known as global positioning system and can be used to track lost skiers and wandering kids.
Having completed the cloth keyboard, scientists have already started to work on a new project—a necktie that can be used as a computer mouse. What is the next? Do you have any idea?

【长春市普通高中2016届高三质量监测(一)】 A
阅读下列短文,从每题所给的四个选项(A、B、C和D)中,选出最佳选项,并在答题卡上将该项涂黑。I’ve been in the taxicab business for thirty-five years, and I know there is a lot about it that is not so good. Taxicab drivers have to be tough fellows to be able to work in New York. You’ve got to fight the New York traffic eight hours a day these days, so people get the wrong impression that they are bad.
Actually, taxi drivers are just like other people. Most of them will behave as honest fellows. You read in the papers almost every week that a taxi driver turns in money or jewels that people leave in their cabs. If they weren’t honest, you wouldn’t be reading those stories in the papers.
One time in Brooklyn, I found a diamond ring in my cab. I remembered helping a lady with a lot of packages that day, so I went back to where I had dropped her. It took me almost two days to trace her down in order to return her ring to her. I didn’t get as much as “thank you”. Still I felt good because I had done what was right. I think I felt better than she did.
I was born and raised in Ireland and lived there until I was nineteen years old. Then I came to this country where I had a family and bought my own cab. Life hasn’t been too easy at times, but my wife takes care of our money and we have a good bit put away for a rainy day.
When I started driving a cab, Park Avenue was mostly a bunch of coal yards. Hoofer’s Brewery was right next to where the Waldorf-Astoria is now. I did pretty well, even in those days. In all my years of driving a taxicab, I have never had any trouble with the public, not even with drunks.
I believe honesty is one of the greatest gifts. I know they call it a lot of fancy names these days, like integrity (正直), etc. But it doesn’t make any difference what they call it; it’s still what makes a man a good citizen. This is my code, and I try to live by.
1. Why do people think taxicab drivers are bad according to the passage?
A. They have been cheated by taxicab drivers before.
B. Taxicab drivers are dishonest.
C. Most taxicab drivers are tough fellows.
D. Some taxicab drivers did not return their lost properties.
2. How did the author return the diamond ring to the lady?
A. By giving her a call and visiting her.
B. By sending her a letter asking her to claim the ring in person.
C. By advertising in the papers.
D. By going back to where she got off and traced her down for almost 2 days.
3. The underlined phrase “a rainy day” in paragraph 4 refers to ______.
A. a day when it rains
B. a time when a family has financial problems
C. a day when the author can’t drive a taxi
D. a time when the author has trouble with drunks
4. How does the author feel as a taxicab driver?
A. Proud and satisfied.
B. Annoyed and stressful.
C. Disappointed and discouraged.
D. Unwilling and regretful.

“Experience may possibly be the best teacher, but it is not a particularly good teacher.”You might think that Winston Churchill or perhaps Mark Twain spoke those words, but they actually come from James March,a professor at Stanford University and a pioneer in the field of organization decision making. For years March(possibly be the wisest philosopher of management)has studied how humans think and act,and he continues to do so in his new book The Ambiguities of Experience.
He begins by reminding us of just how firmly we have been sticking to the idea of experiential learning:“Experience is respected;experience is sought;experience is explained.” The problem is that learning from experience involves(涉及)serious complications(复杂化),ones that are part of the nature of experience itself and which March discusses in the body of this book.
In one interesting part of book, for example,he turns a double eye toward the use of stories as the most effective way of experiential learning. He says “The more accurately(精确的)reality is presented, the less understandable the story, and the more understandable the story, the less realistic it is.”
Besides being a broadly knowledgeable researcher.March is also a poet, and his gift shines though in the depth of views he offers and the simple language he uses.Though the book is short,it is demanding;Don’t pick it up looking for quick, easy lessons.Rather,be ready to think deeply about learning from experience in work and life.
