　　Dear Editor,

　　Recently, my classmates have had a heated discussion about whether we should have optional courses in high schools. Some students are in favour of the optional courses. They say interest is the best teacher and their spare time will be colourful and meaningful. Students can not only enlarge their knowledge but also improve their abilities.

　　However, others are against the idea, saying that optional courses will take up too much time as well as energy. Besides, some optional courses have nothing to do with the College Examination. They are afraid they’ll fall behind their classmates if they take the optional courses.

　　I’d like to take one or two of the optional courses, which, I think, will certainly benefit me a lot.
