　　The advantages，however，have not prevented host families from worrying.On the one hand，some host families are losing their unique selling point.The problem is that the majority of hosts in big cities，now generally single and young，have less time available for students，but the selling point for host family accommodation is communication practice.On the other，students’ expectations have risen.They are becoming more demanding and asking for more than ever from their accommodation，as they come mainly from high socio-economic groups in their own countries.

　　To get out of the difficult situation，host families are now making efforts to improve the quality of service.They are trying to make living conditions better，including broadband Internet service，private bathroom，and access to plenty of hot water for long showers.They are also providing students with structured family activities.

　　It is believed that host family accommodation will keep the popularity vote with language travel students.

　　If you’ ve visited London recently，the chances are that you passed through the tourist attraction of Trafalgar Square.But since July，the square has looked a little different.There’s a statue being put on top of a plinth(柱基)．But unlike the other statues in the square，this one is alive and kicking.The project，called One & Other，was created by the British artist Antony Gormley，who was invited by the Mayor of London to create a sculpture atop the vacant fourth plinth in the northwestern corner of London’s Trafalgar Square.Instead of sculpting a statue from bronze or marble，Gormley was moved by the idea to place real people on the plinth.The idea was to feature one performer or “plinther” one hour in a continuous 24-hour cycle for 100 days straight.A website has been broadcasting it continuously and the last day of the project is October 19.

　　Antony Gormley said，“ The idea is very simple.Through putting a person onto the plinth，the body becomes a symbol.In the context of Trafalgar Square with its military and historical statues，this elevation of everyday life to the position formerly occupied by monumental art allows us to reflect on the diversity，vulnerability(弱点) and feature of the individual in contemporary society.It’ s about people coming together to do something extraordinary and unpredictable.It could be tragic but it could also be funny.”

　　My aunt，Adrianne Foglia，was one of the participants to perform on the plinth.At midnight one night late last month，she climbed up to the top and unfolded a huge banner that said “In Your Life，Who Do You Remember? Who Would You Thank？” I watched online as she began to tell in detail the long list of people who had touched her life.As she spoke，she wrote their names on a canvas (画布) in colored markers to create an abstract mosaic next to the words “People are the colors of our lives.Each one of us is a canvas.” I appreciated her performance very much.However，I also noticed some worrying “plinthers”．Ollie Campbell threw out a live chicken and two blow-up dolls from the mouth before running naked across the square，pursued by the police.Liz Crow sat in a wheelchair in a Nazi uniform.
