  易混辨析 possible,probable和likely辨析

  1)possible强调客观上有可能,但带有“实际可能性很小”的暗示。有时指唯有在适当的条件下,事情可以行得通,办得到,或指某个问题是可以解决的。表示“有可能”。作表语时,主语不能是人,可用it作形式主语,用不定式或从句作真正的主语。possibly是possible的副词形式,它常与 can,may,must等词连用。

  2)probable用来指有根据、合情理、值得相信的事物,即相信某事是真实的或大概会发生,语气比possible强。表示“很可能”“大概”之意。probably为probable的副词形式,表示“很可能地”。

  3)likely侧重“从表面迹象看来,很有可能”,与probable接近,有时可互换。likely之前如有quite,highly等词修饰,则表示“相当/极有可能”。其主语可以是人。
