5天大新生儿被当成布娃娃 遭63岁男子打脸

A man has been arrested after punching a five-day-old baby in a Tesco supermarket.

在乐购超市，一名男子因猛击一个5天大的婴儿而被逮捕。

Elsie Rose was on her first outing with her parents,Amy Duckers and Lewis Temple, and her seven-year-old sister, Libby, when she was hit at the Tescostore in Baguley, Greater Manchester, last Monday.

The baby, weighing 6lb 12oz, was taken to hospitaland monitored overnight but is not believed to have been seriously injured.

The suspect said he thought the baby was a toy doll. The man approached the baby after heoverheard family friends saying: "Come over and have a look at this beautiful baby."

该嫌犯表示，他以为婴儿是个布娃娃。他表示自己是在无意中听到家人说："过来看看这个漂亮的孩子"之后过去的。

According to witnesses, the 63-year-old man then hit the child in the face.

Amy Duckers, the baby's mother, told Manchester Evening News: "We all heard the punch landon my little baby. He ran over and punched Elsie Rose in the face, leaving a very big fist markshape across her forehead."

The child was rushed to hospital from the Tesco store in Baguley near Manchester, and was notdischarged until 4am the next morning.

"The baby girl was taken to hospital as a precaution and has since been discharged," GreaterManchester Police said.

"A 63-year-old was arrested on suspicion of assault and is currently in custody beingquestioned by officers," they added.
