来华国际学生逐年增加 中国或成第二大留学地

China will challenge the UK's position as second inthe world for international study by 2020, accordingto a latest report led by Student.com,accommodation provider for international students.

国际学生住宿服务商留学生公寓网的最新报告称，到2020年中国将挑战英国全球第二大留学目的地的地位。

The report said a record breaking 397,635international students went to China in 2015 andChina has been the third most popular destinationfor overseas students, behind only the US and theUK.

报告称，2015年有创纪录的397635名国际学生赴中国学习，中国成为第三大最受海外学生欢迎的留学目的地，仅次于美国和英国。

With an average 10% year-on-year growth, the number of international students in China hasdoubled since 2005.

中国的国际学生数量自2005年以来翻了一倍，平均年同比增长率达10%。

The report added that despite a recent slowdown, China is still seeing faster growth than theworld's two leading student destinations.

报告还指出，尽管近来中国的国际学生数量增长有所放缓，但其增速仍高于全球两大主要留学目的地美国和英国。

The report forecasts that at current growth rates China will overtake the UK to be the secondmost popular destination for international students, eventually competing with the US forfirst place.

The Independent newspaper from the UK also quoted experts confirming that the number ofinternational students studying in China has risen so rapidly, China will overtake the UK as thesecond most popular academic destination in the world.

The Independent noted that the trend is thought to be partly due to a drive by the Chinesegovernment, as well as increasingly higher education standards and scholarship programs fordegree-seeking students.
