SAT考试考场作文:
Assignment: Are the actions of individuals more valuable than the actions of groups or teams? Plan and write an essay in which you develop your point of view on this issue. Support your position with reasoning and examples taken from your reading, studies, experience, or observations.
In a global society, rarely can people be totally isolated from groups or teams and neither can they are not circumscribed by the actions of groups. Although the democracy always focus on the opinions and actions of large groups, I hold the truth to be self-evident that the actions of individuals are valuable than the actions of groups in some circumstances, for the opinions and beliefs which lead to the actions of majority can not always be warranted and useful.
In science field, the bold and groundbreaking progress and innovations always result in the actions of some wise and creative scientists. In the 19th century, the classical system of physics established by Newton and Maxwell reached its climax and was applied to every aspect of industry and manufacturing. Therefore, most of the physicists thought there was nothing else could do and worked on useless experiments and rectified the old theories rather than making new discoveries. However, the problems suddenly emerged and continued to puzzled and confounded the scientists, but most of them still cinched to the old theories obstinately and repeated the useless experiments. But some creative physicists, such as Albert Einstein and Bohr, were not restricted by the actions of groups of scientist and remarkably developed their own brilliant theories, like special theories of relativity and quantum theories, which effectively solved the problems. If the people only focus on the useless actions of the groups of scientist, we can not see such marvelous and incredible scientific innovation nowadays.
In addition, focusing only on the actions of groups and teams will neglect and even harm the individuals or majoritys benefits. Before the Civil War, the days were a time when the white owners of plantation suppressed and exploited the black slaves to gain their money and estates. Because of the prodigious benefits they received, the government reluctantly allowed the slavery to be legal based on the protest and conviction of the group of white while neglected the black slaves miserable conditions as they were beaten, separated from their families and toil laboriously entire of their lives. However, some slaves escaped from the oppression and told the truth to the Northern people and strived them to take actions against the slavery. It was not until that Lincoln proclaimed the Emancipation that the oppression was over. Had we not followed the actions and suppression of groups of white, we would not see more tragedies and inequalities. Even more, if we did not take the actions of some slaves seriously, their benefits and rights wont be assured.
From the two instances I have stated, we can safely draw the conclusion that sometime the individuals actions are more valuable than the actions of groups. It will always be the case in the past and in the future.
