.Frist, use the grammar checker on your word processing program to check for simple grammar errors. Most grammar checkers now look for comma usage, run-on sentences, passive sentences, tense problems, and more. Using your judgment and the grammar checkers suggestions, edit your essay. But here you should be aware that creative writing commonly deploys a variety of writing skills and techniques that intentionally breaks the rules, such as run-on sentence and etc. So you need to judge on sentence by sentence basis.
.Read through the essay and get an overall understanding about its thesis, content, overall layout, logical structure and development, dictions, sentence styles, main literary techniques and devices deployed, particular strength and apparent weakness.
.Now focus on the thesis statement . Is it clear and easy to understand? What is the relation between the claimed thesis and actual content? Does the content of the essay properly support the thesis statement? If not, why? After this initial diagnosis, formulate a strategy to fix the problem, either by revisign the thesis statement to more closely relate to the content, or by conforming the content with the thesis. Here are some general rules governing the thesis statement:
Strong thesis statement should take a clear stand;

The tone should be consistent with the subject matter, the audience that you address, and your overall delivery strategy.
.Check the paragraph structure of your essay. Each paragraph should contain focused reasoning and pertinent information related to that particular reasoning. Each sentence should clearly serve a purpose. Get rid of any sentence that is content-wise and functionally irrelevant. Here are a list related to the paragraph writing:

.Check on your sentences, make sure they contain various sentence styles, rhetorical devices, literary techniques that collectively help support the thesis development and make your essay interesting, innovative, and persuasive.
.The conclusion of your essay should reference your thesis statement. It should also be consistent with the structure and/or argument of your essay. Take extra time to polish your conclusion. It tends to be the last thing the reader sees but the first thing that they remember.
.Next, read your essay aloud. Pause in your reading as punctuation indicates. This will help you determine how your essay flows and sounds. If you hear something that you dont like, change it and see if it sounds better.
.If possible, have someone else read your essay and offer suggestions for improvement. If you dont have anyone who can do this for you, do it yourself. Because youve spent so much time looking at it by now, set your essay aside for a couple of days before going back to it. This will allow you to critique it with a fresh pair of eyes.
