1. I dont accept his version of events.
我不相信他对事件的说法。
2. I accept she may have been tired, but thats still no excuse.
我相信她也许是累了,但是那并不能成为理由。
to receive something willingly 乐意接受某事/某物
1. I accept this award on behalf of the whole cast.
我很荣幸代表全体演员接受这个奖项。
2. Please accept my resignation.
请您接受我的辞呈。
Except
as a preposition it means apart from except作为介词,是除之外
1. I can resist everything except temptation.
除了诱惑,我可以抵挡一切。
2. We work everyday except Sunday.
除了星期天,我们每天都在工作。
as a conjunction it means if not the fact that except作为连词,意思是若不是
1. I would go swimming, except I am scared of big fish.
若不是我害怕大鱼的话,我会去游泳的。
2. I would buy the skirt, except that it cost too much.
若不是价格太贵的话,我就会买下那条裙子。
【注意】
accept 和except发音相似,拼写相似,在实际运用过程中,很容易混淆。应注意accept是动词,except可以作介词、连词以及动词,其中作为介词出现的情况最为常见。
