　　The elderly boom, a surge in the proportion of the population older than 65 years old , common in both developed and developing countries, is believed to weaken the society as a whole. Ironically this is just what medical care and health care programs attempt to achieve. In fact, this problem is such a complex social, economic, and political one that it refuses to be measured with simple good or bad yardstick.

　　老年人暴涨，就是六十五岁及其以上人口占据总人口比例增加，在发达和发展中国家都普遍，被认为是有害社会的现象。但是具有讽刺以为的是，这正是社会医疗健康项目要达到的目标。事实上，这个问题是复杂的社会、经济、和政治问题以至于不能简单地拿一把利弊的尺子来衡量的。
