正如其他国外语言考试一样，雅思的听力考试也是一门很注重技巧的项目，为学子总结一些使用技巧或者说是做题原则，如获至宝时，不免会忽视技巧也是需要通过一定的练习来加以巩固亦求灵活运用的。
不仅如此，考生还应在备考过程中反复练习直到可以熟练运用相关答题技巧，以便规避出题人设下的陷阱。
先列举几个雅思听力考试中常出现的陷阱形式：
1.信息对称。
例如：录音里男人说他今天赚了50元，花了20元还剩下30元。问你他今天一共花了多少钱。此时50和30就是迷惑项了。
2.同义替换。
这是雅思听力中的一个重点同时也是难点，很多题型中都会出现替换。例如：录音里说The course are either for students who are returning to study or studying part time. 答案中的正确选项出现的是：the students going back to college.
3.出尔反尔。
例如：
I think the fifteenth of December will be the best time.
But there are exams on the sixteenth， so how about tenth-
yeah， thats a good time
