A: I cannot understand how Mary could be interested in a deceitful character like Mike.
B: I heard he was a real scoundrel, a rascal of the worst sort.
A: But Mary won’t listen to any of us. That rogue is deceiving her.
B: Well, I hope she sees that two-faced hypocrite for the knave he is before it’s too late.

A: 我不明白Mary怎么会喜欢上动不动就骗人的Mike呢。

【语言点精讲】

deceitful: 欺诈的（尤其是通过隐藏真相来达到欺骗目的）；骗人的，不老实的。
scoundrel: 道德败坏、声明狼藉的人。
rascal: 卑鄙的、不守法的、不老实的人；流氓，无赖。
two-faced: 两面派的，圆滑虚伪的。
hypocrite: 伪君子；伪善者；虚伪的人。
knave: 不诚实、好欺诈的人；狡诈的人，无赖。
