serious “认真的”。

real “真的”。

Do you mean it?

mean “意味”。

You must be kidding.

(你一定在开玩笑。)

You’re joking!

(你开玩笑!)

我觉得那个很难让人相信。

I find that hard to believe.

(我觉得那个很难让人相信。)

Please explain why you feel that way.

(说说你为什么那么觉得。)

find “认为”、 “觉得”。hard “很难的”、 “困难的”。

That’s hard to believe.

(我不相信。)

Believe me, it’s true.

(相信我，这是真的。)

I don’t find that credible.

credible “可信的”。

I find that difficult to swallow.

这里的swallow指“盲目听信”、 “相信”。

I don’t believe it.

I can’t believe it.

Unbelievable.

You’ve got to be kidding.

(你开玩笑。)

不可能。

She just fired him.

(她刚把他开除了。)

That can’t be true.

(不可能。)

fire “解雇”、 “开除”。

can “可能”。true “真实的”、 “确实的”。

No way!

That’s impossible!

There’s no way that could be.

It doesn’t seem possible.

(那样的事情不可能发生。)

possible “可能发生的”、 “有可能的”。

我才不信!

I won a new car.

(我赢了一辆新车。)

Incredible!

(我才不信!)

Unbelievable!

(我不信!)

I don’t believe it!

The boss would like to see you now.

(老板现在想见你。)

I’m in big trouble.

(我有大麻烦了。)

be in trouble “有麻烦”。

Boy, am I in big trouble.

boy表示惊讶或感叹，“唉呀呀”、 “糟了”。

I’ve really done it now.

真是前所未闻。

Did he get a whole month off?

(他休了整整一个月的假?)

Yes. It’s unheard-of.

(是啊。真是前所未闻。)

unheard-of “没有先例的”、 “前所未闻的”。

It’s never done.

We never hear of this sort of thing.

(我们从来没有听说过这种事情。)

That’s not something I’ve heard of before.

谁都会吃惊的。

I was shocked to hear it.

(听到这个消息我很震惊。)

It would amaze anyone.

(谁都会吃惊的。)

shock “使惊愕”、 “使震惊”。

amaze “使大为惊奇”、 “使惊异”。

Anyone would be amazed.

Anyone would be surprised.

(谁都会吃惊的。)
