I wonder if ... “我想是不是……”、 “我想知道是否……”。这里的work指“计划等顺利完成”、 “有效

果”。

(很遗憾工作进展得并不顺利。)

(真让人失望。)

Unfortunately, ...

(很遗憾/很可惜)

(咖啡厂刚倒闭了。)

(那就这样吧。)

so much for ... “……到此为止”、 “……就那样了”，固定用法。

That’s the end of that.

I guess that’s history.

guess “猜”。

我的前途一片黑暗。

How’s everything these days?

(最近怎么样?)

I lost my job, my health is bad and I’m alone. My future looks bleak.

(我的工作丢了，身体不好，又孤单一人。我的前途一片黑暗。)

bleak “ (前途等)暗淡的”、 “黑暗的”。

Things look very grim.

grim “灰暗的”、 “朦胧的”。

My prospects are poor.

prospect “前景”、 “眺望”、 “期待”。

所以我那么消沉。

That’s why I’m so depressed.

(所以我那么消沉。)

Now I understand.

(现在我明白了。)

把原因和结果连在一起的句型是“That’s why ...”。在中文里，说完原因后经常使用“所以”这个词，英

语也一样。depress有“使情绪低落”、 “使消沉”的意思， so起强调作用。

That’s the reason I’m so depressed.

That’s why I’m feeling so blue.

blue是“蓝色”，这里表示“ (心情)忧郁的”。

That’s why I’m feeling so down.

feel down “消沉”。

你最近好像有什么心事。

You look so worried lately.

(你最近好像有什么心事。)

I’ll be okay.

(我没事。)

look “看起来……”。so “那么”。worried “麻烦的”、 “令人担心的”。lately “近来”、 “最近”。

Are you alright?

(你没事吧?)

Hope everything is okay with you.

(希望你一切顺利。)

这句话的开头省略了I。
