上面报道中的back-to-work blues就是“返工忧郁症,类似于post-holiday syndrome(节后综合症)或者the holiday blues(假日忧郁症)。这种现象其实是现代社会大多数人的一种正常心态,一般在节后一周左右可恢复。Blues在这儿表示沉郁、忧郁的感觉,例如the baby blues(产后抑郁症)。
现代社会人们面临各种不同的压力,也产生了各种千奇百怪的症状。例如空巢老人因为过于孤独而可能患上empty nest syndrome(空巢综合症)、因为工作上缺少挑战或动力而出现的身体欠佳或抑郁的underload syndrome(动力不足综合症)等。
