RIO DE JANEIRO, Oct. 16 -- After its disappointing 3-0 loss to Atletico-GO in the 30th round of the Brazilian Championship, Sao Paulo decided to release head coach Adilson Batista on Sunday.
After six games without a win, the fans and Sao Paulo's directory lost their patience. In total, Adilson coached Sao Paulo to a record of seven wins, nine draws and six defeats.
Additionally, during his four games with Sao Paulo since his return to the club, Luis Fabiano has yet to score, leaving fans anxious and frustrated.
Milton Cruz will take over as head coach for the remainder of the tournament. Only eight rounds of play remain in this year' s Brazilian Championship.
Sao Paulo currently stands in sixth place with 48 points. In the next round of play the team will receive Coritiba on October 23.
Cruz marks Sao Paulo' s third coach during this year' s national tournament.
