BERLIN, Sept. 27 -- German Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich staged a faultless performance against Manchester City to win 2-0 owing a brace by striker Mario Gomez on Tuesday at Allianz Arena.
Guests Manchester City performed a better start as Bayern needed some time in front of 66,000 spectators. As the match progressed Bayern took over to open the scoring as striker Mario Gomez poked home a follow up shot from very close distance with 38 minutes into the match.
Seconds before break Bayern striker Gomez sealed the deal for the second victory at UEFA Champions League when he again poked home a rebound from very close range.
Bayern dominated the second half against unimaginative Manchester City to remain on top of group A with six points followed by Naples with four points. Manchester City collected just one point and Villarreal got none point out of two matches.
It is the 10th consecutive match for the Bavarians with a clean sheet.
