WELLINGTON, Sept. 16 -- The United States beat Russia 13-6 in the Rugby World Cup pool match in New Zealand North Island city of New Plymouth Thursday night.
It was the American's third win in 19 World Cup games, with the previous two coming against Japan, but is likely to be their last of this tournament as they now face Australia and Italy, having lost to Ireland in their Pool C opener.
Russia, the 20th and last team to play, struggled in the wet conditions and lacked any enterprise on attack, however remained in the contest thanks to a solid scrum and strong defence.
