BERLIN, July 21 -- Japanese international and Wolfsburg midfielder Makoto Hasebe extends his running contract until 2017 with the German Bundesliga champion 2009, the club announced on Thursday.
Midfielder Hasebe joined Wolfsburg in 2009 to stage 88 appearances in Bundesliga to score two goals. He was also able to win the German championship in 2009 with the "Wolves" .
"I am happy that Makoto has decided to stay with us and continue to help us," Wolfsburg manager Felix Magath said.
"I like my teammates, the fans and the city and therefore feel with my family in Wolfsburg also very comfortable. I am pleased to be able to play in the coming years for VfL and hope that we will soon be back on the winning track," midfielder Makoto Hasebe said.
The 27-year-old midfielder is the captain of the Japanese national team where he made 43 official matches and two goals since 2006.
