BERLIN, July 14 -- After a long back and forth, Manchester City agreed with Bayern Munich to transfer defender Jerome Boateng, both sides announced on Thursday.
After one season at Manchester City, Jerome returned to the Bundesliga and would play for Bayern Munich till 2017. Boateng is expected within the next few days in Munich for medical check.
"There were intense negotiations and a long way until we could seal the deal. With Jerome Boateng we got our preferred player for the central defence," Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said.
Boateng's last station in Germany was Hamburg where he played 75 official matches without a single goal in three years. Since 2009, he has ever been part of the German national team with 15 apperences.
Bayern sport director Christian Nerlinger added: "Jerome Boateng is a young German international, who fits perfectly into the philosophy of FC Bayern."
