RIO DE JANEIRO, June 25 -- On the road against a struggling Atletico-PR on Saturday, Bahia won 2-0 in the 6th round of the Brazilian Championship.
The result led to the release of Atletico-PR's head coach, Adilson Batista.
Lulinha and Marcone scored Bahia's goals in their team's second win on the road. The result amounts to Atletico-PR's fifth loss, having scored only one goal in this year's competition. Head coach Adilson Batista declared his frustration, deception and irritation after the match and announced his departure.
Bahia improved to 8 points and provisionally stands in ninth place. Atletico-PR remains winless and stands in nineteenth place with 1 point. In the 7th round of play, Bahia will host Corinthians on June 29 while Atletico-PR will travel to face Fluminense on the following day.
