MADRID, June 14 -- Sevilla striker Alvaro Negredo insisted Tuesday that he doesn't want to leave the club even if it is to return to Real Madrid.
Madrid, still have a buyback option on Negredo, who began his career in their youth system before joining Almeria and then moving to Sevilla two seasons ago. The Spain international's 20 league goals last season made him the top scoring Spaniard in La Liga and also raised the possibility of Real Madrid taking up its option to buy him.
Negredo is currently on his holiday, but speaking to Diario AS this Tuesday, he said he was perfectly happy with Sevilla and has no desire to move back to Real Madrid.
"I have already told the Sevilla President that even though Real Madrid can take up their option, I want to stay in Sevilla, because I am happy here. The best way for me to continue to grow as a player is here. It is the best place for me to be and I am not thinking of moving," said Negredo.
"My first year at the club wasn't the best, but you also learn from your mistakes," added Negredo.
"There is still time until the date on the buyback clause runs out, so I will not be able to relax until then, but I have told the president that even if Madrid decide to buy me, I want him to take me back to Sevilla and to put his faith in me," continued the striker, who is already looking forward to next season, when the club will have a new coach in Marcelino Garcia.
"We will have to start from scratch, but we are forming a good squad with young quality players. We have to think about winning titles, which is what has made the club important," said Negredo.
