LONDON, June 13 -- English Premier League side Manchester United on Monday have confirmed the capture of Blackburn Rovers defender Phil Jones on a five-year deal.
Jones, who featured for England U-21s in their opening European Championship match against Spain in Denmark last night, will complete his move once he returns.
"Manchester United is delighted to announce it has signed an agreement with Blackburn Rovers for the transfer of Phil Jones," United said in a statement. "The player passed a medical in Manchester last week and has agreed a five-year contract. The deal will be completed once the player returns from international duty."
Four of the United players took part in last night's U-21 game, as head coach Alex Ferguson is rebuilding his squad in the wake of last month's UEFA Champions League final defeat to Barcelona.
