RIO DE JANEIRO, June 12 -- Home team Atletico-GO fell behind early to Ceara in the 4th round of the 2011 Brazilian Championship on Sunday. However, a strong reaction led Atletico-GO to a 4-1 stomp.
Ceara scored the game' s opening goal in the 22nd minute of play. Off a give-and-go, Vincente rolled the ball off to a wide-open Thiago Humberto who effortlessly tapped the ball into the open goal.
Atletico-GO reacted immediately, tying the match in the 25th minute. Dominating a pass inside of the goalie box, Marcao lofted the ball to Anselmo to slam in a header. Before entering the half, the home team took the lead in the 38th minute when a wide-open Adriano fired in a shot past a helpless keeper Fernando Henrique.
Returning to the second half, Atletico-GO scored twice more. Bida scored his team' s third goal in the 60th minute, followed by another goal by Anselmo in the 74th minute.
The win takes Atletico-GO to 6 points, currently standing in seventh place. Ceara remains with 4 points, dropping to fifteenth place. In the 5th round of play, Atletico-GO will travel to face Atletico-MG on June 19 while Ceara will receive Sao Paulo on the same day.
