BERLIN, April 24 -- Wolfsburg striker Mario Mandzukic and midfielder Ashkan Dejagah sealed the 4-1 victory over Cologne whilst Mainz shared point with Nuremberg on Sunday.
The "Wolves" caught Cologne on the hop when striker Mario Mandzukic opened the scoring against harmless guests at the 14th minute.
Wolfsburg kept the pace to double the lead six minutes before break through Mandzukic who netted his brace by header.
Just one minute later Cologne surprisingly shorted the scoring through striker Sebastian Freis who netted a through ball.
Wolfsburg remained unfazed by Colognes consolation goal so that they extended the score through midfielder Ashkan Dejagah who hammered the 3-1 at the 58th minute. Two minutes before final whistle Dejagah sealed his brace to kill the game.
Wolfsburg remain on 16th position, a relegation spot, while Cologne slipped from 12th to 14th position. It was the first victory for the "Wolves" under new coach Felix Magath.
At the other match on Sunday, Nuremberg and Mainz shared point after a goalless draw. Both sides remain on their positions as Mainz on 5th position, a European League spot, Nuremberg on 6th position with a two point gap.
