Emmanuel Mutai set the course record at the London Marathon Sunday, as Kenyan compatriot Mary Keitany won in her debut in the British capital.
Mutai ran the 42.2 kilometer race in 2 hours, 4 minutes, 40 seconds. The 26-year-old Kenyan broke compatriot Sammy Wanjiru's record of 2 hours, 5 minutes and 10 seconds from 2009.
Mutai ran the fourth fastest men's marathon in history.
The 29-year-old Keitany won the women's race with a time of 2 hours, 19 minutes and 19 seconds, making her the fourth fastest woman ever.
Defending champion Liliya Shobukhova of Russia finished second, followed by Kenyan Edna Kiplagat, who was also making her London Marathon debut.
