TONGLING, Anhui Province, April 15 -- The world champion trio of Lu Yong, Lv Xiaojun and Ouyang Xiaofang combined to sweep nine gold medals for China Friday at the Asian weightlifting championships.
The hosts have so far bagged 26 out of 27 gold medals contested over three days, and DPR Korea's Jong Chun Mi is the only non-Chinese gold medalist. Jong grabbed the jerk gold in the women's 58kg category.
World record holder Lv upset Asian Games champion Pang Kum Chol of DPR Korea to claim the titles for the men's 77kg division.
The 27-year-old Lv hoisted 160kg in snatch and 192kg in the clean and jerk for a winning total of 352kg, 26kg shy of his own world record set in 2009.
"Although I won the competition, I am not satisfied with my performance," said Lv.
With newly-crowned world champion Maneza Maiya of Kazakhstan absent from the competition, Ouyang staged a steady performance in the women's 63kg, snatching 110kg and jerking 134kg.
"The total result was even higher than expected," said the 29-year-old Ouyang.
Pak Hyon Suk of DPR Korea didn't live up to her billing as she finished runner-up with 236kg (106kg snatch/130kg jerk).
In the men's 85kg category, Lu snatched 173kg and jerked 212kg to secure the gold with a winning total of 385kg, 22kg more than the second-placed Rostomi Kianoush of Iran.
"My major goal now is the Olympic gold medal in 2017," said Lu.
