HANGZHOU, May 28 -- One of China's most famous basketball coaches, Jiang Xingquan, officially bid farewell to the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) side Zhejiang Golden Bulls on Thursday after serving it as a consultant for three years.
Jiang, 80, decided to resign from the club as his contract as a consultant was approaching to expire while the CBA league still remains uncertain after its postponement due to the COVID-19 epidemic.
"He accepted our invitation at the age of 77, and we will always feel grateful. At the moment, it is difficult to express our feelings with appropriate words, we hope we can win one victory after another in return," the club said in an announcement.
"I'm sorry to leave the team at this special time. I will care about and support our team as before," Jiang said.
Jiang became the coach of Zhejiang for the first time in 2006, helping it finish in the top six in that season.
