TEHRAN, May 14 -- Former Iranian national midfielder Javad Nekounam is considering coaching Spanish La Liga side Osasuna in the future, Persian Football reported on Thursday.
Nekounam, head coach of Foolad Khuzestan in Iran's top division, said that if he could produce good results with his current team, he may one day become the coach of Osasuna.
"If I deserve it and work hard enough, I can get it," he was quoted as saying.
Nekounam spent most of his playing career with Osasuna and Iranian side Pas. He appeared in 149 La Liga matches for Osasuna, scoring 24 goals and also being made team captain. He also played for teams in the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait and Qatar, during an 18-year playing career.
