JEDDAH, Saudi Arabia, Jan. 8, -- Real Madrid defeated Valencia 3-1 to book a Spanish Super Cup final berth here on Wednesday.
Toni Kroos helped Real Madrid took the lead on 1-0 with a corner kick in the 15th minute. Francisco "Isco" Alarcon expanded the lead with a shot from inside the area in the 39th minute before Luka Modric sealed the victory with a neat strike in the 65th minute.
Dani Parejo converted a penalty for Valencia in second-half stoppage time after a handball by Madrid captain Sergio Ramos.
This is the first year the Super Cup was played with four teams with league second and third placed teams included. It used to feature only the Spanish La Liga winners and the Copa del Rey champions.
