BUENOS AIRES, Jan. 4 -- Colombian midfielder Juan Fernando Quintero rejoined his River Plate teammates for a summer training camp on Saturday following a heart scare.
The 26-year-old underwent cardiac monitoring after irregularities were detected during a routine physical examination on Friday.
But River medical staff cleared him to travel to San Martin de los Andes, in the Argentinian Patagonia, when his heart rate and blood pressure were found to be normal.
"It wasn't [arrhythmia]. It had to do with a cough and a little cold. I'm fine now," the playmaker told reporters.
Quintero returned to football last October, almost seven months after suffering a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament of his left knee.
River are currently fifth in the 24-team Argentinian Superliga standings. The Buenos Aires outfit will return from Argentinian football's summer recess with a visit to Independiente on January 19.
