BRATISLAVA, Dec. 18 -- Prievidza Basketball Club defeated Iskra Svit 87-62 on Tuesday to complete the 18th round of the Slovak Basketball League, winning its third consecutive match and serving the visitors their third straight loss.
Prievidza have their eyes on the third and potentially second spot in the rankings of the Slovak premier league, currently occupied by the Levice Patriots and Lucenec, with both teams boasting only one victory more than Prievidza.
After defeating Spisska Nova Ves on Dec. 7, Prievidza's roster had a lot of time to rest and deal with injuries, which showed on the home court against Svit. Prievidza, in which game they were leading by a comfortable 23-point lead at half-time thanks to a solid defense and made sure to hold it until the end.
Two players on both sides finished the night with 21 points. The next round of the SBL will put the top-three contenders with Priviedza against the league leaders Inter Bratislava.
