"I failed 7 years ago here. I was so released that I finished the match with a victory. I have put it in my mind to win the tournament this time so as to improve my confidence in further international tournaments," Sato told a press conference after the final.
Sato became the first Japanese women's singles player to win Indonesia Open Super Series.
Sato earned 75,000 U.S. dollars for the title, while Sung Ji Hyun received 38,000 dollars of rewards.
