MADRID, June 24 -- Getafe sealed the final promotion place to the Spanish Primera Liga on Saturday following a 3-2 aggregate win against Tenerife.
The side from the south of Madrid return to the Spanish top-flight after just a season in the second division thanks to a 3-1 win on Saturday night after losing the first leg of the final 1-0 in Tenerife in midweek.
Goals from Alejandro Faurlin and Dani Pacheco put Getafe 2-0 up in the first quarter of an hour of the game and although Tenerife pulled a goal back, Pacheco's second goal of the game, nine minutes halftime was enough to seal the win.
Getafe join Levante and Girona in winning promotion and the result is a triumph for Getafe coach, Jose Bordolas, who last season took Alaves to promotion. The coach took over at the club in the eighth week of the season with Getafe in the relegation zone and had led an incredible turnaround in fortune.
With Getafe's promotion the Community of Madrid now has four sides in the Spanish top-flight: Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Leganes and Getafe.
