XILINHOT, China, July 2 -- Chinese woman's basketball team stayed unbeaten in 2017 Women's International Basketball Championship by defeating Lithuania 79-57 here on Sunday.
Huang Sijing led China with a match-high 16 points, Li Meng contributed 15 points, five assists and four steals. Santa Okockyte also had 16 points for Lithuania.
Consecutive shots helped the guests take an early lead in the first quarter. However, China stormed a 13-point streak to establish a double-digit advantage at the end of the first quarter 19-9. Both team scored 17 points in the second period of the match.
Li Meng and Zhao Shuang combined for 10 straight points right after the halftime break before Lithuania responded with 6-0 in the paint. The host dominated the rest time of the match to win 79-57.
Just like yesterday, team China stayed on the court to train for about half an hour after the match, according to China's coach Xu Limin, the players should have focused more in the match as they were outrebounded 17-32.
"I felt that we missed some rebounds but the number surprised me when I saw the statistics," said Xu, "Our players got skills and height, they should know that if they can do something they should do their best."
China will play against Canada on Monday night.
