ACCRA, Oct. 18 -- FIFA president Gianni Infantino on Wednesday congratulated Aduana Stars FC for winning the 2016-17 Ghana premier league season, after a seven-year wait.
"It gives me great pleasure to send my warmest congratulations to Aduana Stars FC for their second championship title," he wrote in a letter addressed to Kwesi Nyantakyi, the president of the Ghana FA.
He applauded the efforts of the entire team for the great achievement, thanking the club and the FA for helping to spread the positive message of football.
The chief executive officer of Aduana Stars FC Albert Commey in a quick response to the letter said the team will work harder each day to achieve more in future football competitions.
Aduana Stars FC, formed in 1985, gained promotion to the Ghana elite league in the 2009-10 season and made an instant impact by annexing the league trophy on its debut.
The club will represent Ghana in the next African champions league.
