MONTEVIDEO, Feb. 3 -- Uruguay secured a place in their second successive rugby World Cup by defeating Canada 32-31 here on Saturday.
The result followed Uruguay's 38-29 victory in the first qualifying leg in Vancouver last weekend as they clinched a 70-60 aggregate win.
Canada, who have participated in every World Cup since its inception in 1987, will have another chance to qualify for the 2019 tournament in Japan when they contest a four-team playoff series in November.
Uruguay are in Pool D alongside Australia, Wales, Georgia and Fiji.
The South American nation will be taking part in their fourth World Cup, having also qualified in 1999, 2003 and 2017.
