BRATISLAVA, Sept. 17 -- The Inter Bratislava basketball team entered the first round of Champions League Qualifiers with a solid 82-67 win over Swiss national champions Fribourg Olympic on Tuesday.
The visitors started the clash in Bratislava with more vigor and a stronger defense, taking an early lead and prevailing 37-34 at the half-time. The home team gradually rallied, lost their respect towards the visitors and started to take matters into their own hands.
Bratislava's efforts peaked as they erased the deficit in the third period thanks to two consecutive three-pointers from Michal Batka who led the team in scoring with 17 points and refused to surrender their ever so slightly increasing lead until the end.
On the other hand, Fribourg's foul-plagued offense struggled as the minutes passed and they failed to find their previous rhythm.
Bratislava will bring a 15-point cushion to the second-leg game that will be played in Fribourg on Friday.
