RIO DE JANEIRO, Mar. 3 -- Paris Saint-Germain and Brazil forward Neymar has undergone successful surgery on his injured right foot, according to the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF).
The 26-year-old suffered a fractured fifth metatarsal during PSG's 3-0 Ligue 1 victory over Marseille on February 25.
Brazil national team doctor Rodrigo Lasmar performed the operation at the Master Dei Hospital in the southeastern city of Belo Horizonte on Saturday.
"The operation is over, Neymar is already in his room. It went well," a CBF spokesman said.
Lasmar previously said that the injury could keep Neymar on the sidelines for three months, leaving him with just two weeks to regain fitness for the World Cup in Russia.
Brazil play their first match against Switzerland in the southern port city of Rostov-on-Don on June 17.
PSG said in their own statement on Saturday that Neymar would immediately begin his recovery process under the club's supervision.
"His rehabilitation will begin immediately under the direction of a club physiotherapist," the French club said. "Neymar's injury will be assessed in six weeks' time to establish a possible date for his return to training.'
Neymar has scored 28 goals and provided 16 assists across all competitions since arriving in the French capital from Barcelona for a world record fee of 222 million euros in August.
