CAIRO, May 15 -- Well-known football club Zamalek won Egypt Cup on Tuesday after a penalty shootout against Smouha in Alexandria, north of Cairo.
Smouha's forward Hossam Hassan scored the first goal in the 5th minute but he was sent off later for getting the second yellow card.
Zamalek's Kabongo Kasongo from DR Congo put his team back on track with an equalizer in the 86th minute.
The 30-minute extra time did not manage to break the deadlock. The penalty shootout witnessed Smouha defender Abdullah Bakry miss the first kick, granting Zamalek the title.
It is the 26th time for Zamalek to hold the Egypt Cup. They claimed the title for four successive years from 2013 to 2016 before Ahly got it in 2017.
Zamalek is set to encounter the league title holder Ahly for Egypt's Super Cup, which Zamalek won three times and Ahly 10 times.
